Photo Restoration with GIMP

I thought I’d do a little tutorial on restoring old and damaged photographs using GIMP. For this example I’m going to use a photo of my late grandfather as a child.


It’s a very old photo taken in the early 1900’s so the dark and light colours aren’t as pronounced as they could be, but even fixing that won’t repair the damage, but GIMP will. Once we have the photo restored we can do some basic colour correction to it.
