New oil painting: Riverside

Yes, I finally got off my lazy ass and did a new oil painting.

Riverside - oil on box canvas - 16" x 12"

I also recorded the entire painting process which I’ll hopefully be uploading to YouTube shortly, as a ten minute video, although it’s a biiiig file as I’ve kept it at 640 pixels wide rather than the usual teeny tiny 320 pixels wide. I’ll post again when the video is up and running.

Working on a new ink drawing, A3 size!

I really enjoyed doing the (now sold) ink drawing I called ‘House by the Lake’. I’ve now started a v2.0 of said drawing using A3 watercolour paper and a 0.1 Liner pen. It’s going slowly, but surely:

Although I have to admit, I’m dreading that big tree on the left and the dark background. It’s taken about 3hrs of drawing to do what you see above! I love ink sketches like this, but sometimes I just don’t have the patience for it!  :D

Hiding From The Storm – new landscape in oil

New oil landscape, a big ‘un too – 19″ x 14″!

It’ll take several days to dry, but once it’s dry it’ll go up for sale on eBay, miniGallery etc…

Oil painting, wet-in-wet, with homemade liquid white

I first came across the wet-in-wet technique (sometimes called wet-on-wet) while watching reruns of Bob Ross’s Joy of Painting show.

Wet-in-wet is where you cover the canvas with a thin spread of ‘liquid white‘ making the canvas slippery and allowing the oil paint to easily slide across the canvas, mix with the liquid white, and be much easier to blend.

Unfortunately, liquid white is a secret recipe and quite expensive to buy, since it’s Bob Ross branded, but… you can make your own liquid white substitute. Here’s how I do it:

Forest Fire – my second abstract painting, up for sale on eBay

This is only my second abstract painting, but there will be more, as they are so much fun to make! This one has a layer of plaster over the canvas, which was then sealed using glue, then primed and painted (with acrylic).

Here’s a detailed section of the painting which was taken from the left side pointing toward the middle of the painting, it’s just to show the textured plaster base:

And it’s up for sale on eBay. Bids starting at only £5. You could get yourself a bargain there!

My first abstract painting, now on eBay

Lately I’ve been enjoying the look of some of the more simple, and colourful, abstract paintings. This has spurred me on in creating a few abstracts myself. My first one, Last Trees on Earth, is now on eBay for sale.

It uses several non-paint substances to give some nice texture to the canvas:

So… head over to eBay and place a bid, you too could get a bargain!

and a fourth item goes up for sale on ebay

Yep, another day, another item. This time it’s Lakeside House, which is ink on watercolour paper:
